Manga discovery(June 2020)

Today’s list will surely surprise you because I read so many mangas even I forgot the count. This is going to be a long list.

1. Arakawa under the bridge

synopsis:

Gag manga about a young “elite” man who has a policy of not being in debt to anyone. But he ends up owing his life to a strange girl who saves his life. Nino, the girl, believes she’s a martian & lives under the bridge by the Arakawa river. So the young man ends up living there too.

This has got be one of my favorite manga. It was laughter all the way till the end.

2. Wake up, Sleeping Beauty

synopsis:

Despite being a scaredy-cat and crybaby, high schooler Tetsu Misato finds himself working at the eerie estate on the hill, where Shizu—the only child of the Karasawa family—is secreted away. However, his friendship with Shizu quickly turns to fear when several spirits of the dead appear before him, borrowing her appearance. As he struggles to find the humanity in her supernatural condition, Tetsu must also face a question at once terrifying and heartbreaking: What if the true Shizu never returns?

Check out my full review here.

3. Miki-san, Daisuki desu!

Synopsis:

A dull high school student is going to get acquainted with a popular girl in his class!

There aren’t many chapters realeased yet. But the first chapter I read showed me the rest of the story(in a good way) which I knew was going to be good. I really have a lot of expectations from it.

4. Welcome to the N.H.K.

Synopsis:

Sato Tatsuhiro is a drug-addled “hikikomori” (a Japanese shut-in) who thinks a sinister organization, NHK (Nihon Hikikomori Kyoukai), is the cause of all his problems! He falls in love with a girl, Misaki, who he thinks is trying to assassinate him, but doesn’t know how to talk to her or if he can trust her. The more he stay in his house watching anime porn, reading manga and doing drugs, the harder it is for him to leave. Only Misaki can keep him from rotting away in his own apartment!

Welcome to the NHK is a well-written and well-told story about a serious subject matter. It has a good pace and just enough of both humor and sadness. I enjoyed the series very much and if it is a type of anime you normally enjoy, I am sure you will love this series as well.

5. Kaette kudasai! Akutsu-san

Synopsis:

Ooyama-kun normally doesn’t get involved with Akutsu-san, a delinquent girl in his class, but for some reason she makes his house her hang-out place! Will Ooyama do something horrible to her behind closed doors or will he chase her out? But dealing with Akutsu-san’s sexy, cute behavior in such a confined space… he’s sure to get flustered! He wants her to go home, but he doesn’t? A teasing comedy under a single roof!

The character devolopment isn’t as good as other gag mangas but it definiteley keeps the flow going.

6. Kawaii Joushi wo Komarasetai

Synopsis:

After drinking too much at a company party, the serious and shy 30-something Ira Megumi finds herself waking up naked in bed next to a younger coworker, Aoki Shun. What happened with Aoki the previous night? And perhaps more importantly, what does she want to happen with Aoki in the future?

I seriously think this manga is doing a good job as a romcom series, its deserve more attention.

7. Arasa Dakedo, Hatsukoi desu

Synopsis:

“Inoue-san, you’re my first boyfriend…”, says Yamamoto, 28 years old. “I don’t have a lot of experience either, but we’ll work through it together”, says Inoue, 32 years old. In reality, Inoue’s never been with a girl either, but he couldn’t tell Yamamoto that. A fluffy love-comedy about the adventures of this innocent and pure couple.

I reccomend everyone to read this manga. Now this is what you call”pure love”.

8. Go for it, Nakamura!

This image has an empty alt attribute; its file name is go-for-it.jpg

Synopsis:

Nakamura is a shy boy who falls in love at first sight with one of his classmates–his dreamy high school classmate, Hirose. But there’s a problem: they haven’t met yet. And Nakamura is a total klutz who might bungle things before they even begin!

Really short and sweet BL that even people who don’t like this sort of thing could get into it

9. Yandere Kanojo

Synopsis:

Tanaka Manabu is a geeky student, on the way to school he meets a girl carrying a bloody bat. That girl is Ryuuzaki Reina, leader of the school’s female delinquents. It’s love at first sight. A gag manga (with a combination of 4-koma and normal page) about having a yandere girlfriend.

It’s a funny gag manga with lighthearted, cliche characters. They fall in love in a ridiculous way and have ridiculous interactions and go on ridiculous adventures.

10. Jujutsu Kaisen

Synopsis:

Although Yuji Itadori looks like your average teenager, his immense physical strength is something to behold! Every sports club wants him to join, but Itadori would rather hang out with the school outcasts in the Occult Research Club. One day, the club manages to get their hands on a sealed cursed object. Little do they know the terror they’ll unleash when they break the seal…

Honestly this is nothing like you ever read before. This Manga is amazing and I can’t wait for the anime to air.

11. Fushigi Neko no Kyuu-chan

Synopsis:

The cute Kyuu-chan is a wonder cat. These are the tales of Kyuu-chan living together in their new home with their human. Dance, sing, be happy together!

This is probably the cutest manga you’ll ever read. Kyuu-chan doesn’t behave like a normal cat and is very affectionate towards his owner. After reading the first chapter, I knew this was going to be so amazing.

12. cherish

Synopsis:

Chapter 1-3) Cherish
Chihiro is starting university where her deceased mother and the man who raised her attended. She wonders what’s in store for her in this new chapter of her life, but is almost immediately confronted with her past! Her old boyfriend is back in the country and on top of that, who is the strange man watching her?

chapter 4-5) Happiness
Akatsu-kun is a young man in love with his work partner, Kayano-san, a pretty and intelligent woman. One day, while Akatsu-kun was shopping in a little store, he saw a little boy who was reading a Playboy magazine, then, Akatsu-kun realized this little boy is Kayano-san’s son!!

Both the stories are really sweet. I wish it had more chapters to read.

13. Dosanko gyaru is mega cutei

Synopsis:

Natsukawa Tsubasa has just moved from Tokyo to Hokkaido, in the middle of winter. Not quite appreciating how far towns are apart in the country, he gets off the taxi at the next town over from his destination, so he can see the sights around his home. But he is shocked when he learns the “next town” is 3 hours walk away. But he also meets a cute Dosanko (born and raised in Hokkaido) gyaru named Fuyuki Minami who is braving 8 degrees celsius below 0 weather in the standard gyaru outfit of short skirts and bare legs!

This is looking to be a fun read and I’m definitely tracking this one for updates, which appear to be fairly regular, right now.

14. Taiyou no uta

Synopsis:

Kaoru Amane is a 16-year-old girl who suffers from a rare genetic disorder known as xeroderma pigmentosum—a condition in which even the smallest amount of sunlight will cause irreparable damage to her skin, potentially ending her life. As a result, she is confined to her house during the day, while venturing out into the city only at night to play her guitar and sing in front of the train station.

During her time spent indoors, she watches a young boy from afar and yearns to talk to him. Through her cousin’s efforts, Kaoru finds out that the boy’s name is Kouji Fujishiro. Eventually, Kaoru runs into him during one of her nightly adventures, their first meeting cementing her feelings for the boy she has always longed to be with; however, as the girl begins to fall deeper in love, her complicated illness is certain to bring some hardships.

It has a warm ending, one of my favorites, it leaves you with closure of sorts. If you don’t like sad endings then most probably don’t read this. I was left in tears in the end.

15. Train man

Synopsis:

Boy–bashful and not overly brave–defends girl from obnoxious drunk on a Tokyo train. Girl sends boy a thank-you pair of pricey Hermés teacups. Boy’s a geek and doesn’t know what to do next. End of story for most nerds–but this one turns to the world’s largest online message board and asks for help, so for him it’s just the beginning. This matchless love story is told through a series of Internet chat room threads.

As Train Man, our hero charts his progress and unveils each new crisis–from making conversation to deciding what to wear on a date and beyond–in return, he receives advice, encouragement, warnings, and sympathy from the anonymous netizens. And Train Man discovers the secret to what makes the world go round–and proves we really do live in a universe where anything can happen.

This is just a wonderful manga. I absoluetely love this. More than the love story between the main characters, the relationship between the MC and his internet friends are more interesting to read. If you’re in search of some good manga then this will definetely satisfy your list.

Extra content:

I also discovered some new manhwas. Check them it out.

1. The boxer

Synopsis:

An unimaginable talent without rivalry. Will it prove itself to be a blessing or a curse?

This is definetely different from hajime no ippo. This is also a new series which started just now but it’s popularity is increasing rapidly.

2. One of a kind romance

Synopsis:

Gong Yoo-Il is an aspiring writer on the hunt for a job and a die-hard fan of the idol, Ryu-Min. Tak Moo-Yi is a top actor with legions of fans. Add a mysterious stalker, and chaos ensues. This is the story of a one-of-a-kind romance!

This is probably the only manhwa I’ve read that doesn’t have too much action in it. I don’t know about others but whenever I read a manhwa there’s always too many gangsta and that makes me wanna skip the rest of the story but this manhwa is different , It’s actually really good to read.

I hope you enjoyed this list. This month has been on hell of a rollercoastr for me. I’ve read so many new manga, watched haikyuu and run with the wind. Also many exciting things happened this month.

Here are some of the mangas I would definetely reccomend to you:

  1. Train man
  2. Arakawa under the bridge
  3. Arasa Dakedo, Hatsukoi desu
  4. Wake up, Sleeping Beauty
  5. The boxer
  6. One of a kind romance
  7. Miki-san, Daisuki desu!
  8. Jujutsu kaisen
  9. A song to the sun
  10. Fushigi Neko no Kyuu-chan

Although I would recommend you to give every manga in this list a go.
