Synopsis: Third-grader Shota Aikawa’s pet beetle evolves from a larva to a pupa to a superhot human! The wacky adventures of the Aikawa family and the fabulous beetle who would be king now begins! You’re gonna LARVA this new comedy manga!
Before we start, I wanna say that I have finally finished Tokyo Ghoul:re thus completing Sui Ishida’s amazing series. Why I’m saying this because you probably won’t see a review on it and this is because I got so deep into reading it that I forgot to write my thoughts in between and now I have no content. Anyway just wanted to convey my afterthoughts, Tokyo Ghoul:re was better than the prequel(at least to me), one of the best series I’ve read and a series I will remember forever.

Moriking is Shonen Jump series by Tomohiro Hasegawa which unfortunately cancelled. Now the reason why I started this series even though it was cancelled and had a lot of negative reviews is because of the surreal comedy tag. As you know I’m a big sucker for surreal comedies, it’s just a fun read overall.
Moriking had a very weird Synopsis and I mean very weird, a pupa turning into a super hot human, who would want to see that unless you had a very unusual fetish, I’m not saying I read because of that but it could be the case for some people. Anyways, like the synopsis told(or warned) us about, a rhinoceros beetle larva turns into a very weird yet kinda handsome dude with some damn good abs(no I’m not jealous of an insect).
My first impressions of Moriking weren’t the best, the story was good and the art was okay but the area where it was really lacking is the characters’ expressions. They were pretty much bland, even though the dialoguing and the story were fun to read, the simple expressions gave out.
I still have some hope for the manga because it’s the sort of style I really like, to the point that it’s so weird nothing makes sense. Have you guys read Moriking? Leave a comment down below what you thought of it
Thank you for reading.
I agree, Tokyo Ghoul:Re was more interesting than Tokyo Ghoul…!!! I guess we were more inclined towards badass Ken Kaneki than the sweet one!

Ok, the concept here is cracking me up. 😂🤣 I mean, I love exploring what an animal or plant would act like if they could turn into a human, but it’s so easy to mess that up. And honestly I don’t see why a beetle-turned-human would look like that. I would have expected something more samurai-ish, since rhinoceros beetles are often said to resemble a samurai helmet.
